Το 1922 γεννημένη από τις ρίζες των ρούχων εργασίας ως εταιρεία σαλοπέτας με το όνομα Williamson- Dickies MFG. Co. Από τότε αναπτύχθηκε και έγινε η μεγαλύτερη εταιρεία κατασκευής ενδυμάτων εργασίας παγκοσμίως. Οι skaters τη δεκαετία 80's και 90 γνωρίζοντας πως χρειάζονται σκληρής φύσης υφάσματα και ενδύματα επέλεξαν την Dickies η οποία μπορούσε να τους προσφέρει παντελόνια skateboarding που θα ήταν ανθεκτικά σε γρατσουνιές και σκισίματα από τσιμέντο , δοκούς και άσφαλτο.

Τη δεκαετία του 90' ο Julien Stranger, η ομάδα Anti-Hero και οι skaters SF Based άρχισαν να φοράνε Dickies κάνοντας το σήμα cool μιας και έκαναν skate με αυτό ξεκινώντας κάπως έτσι η επιρροή της Dickies στην streetwear κοινότητα.
